Mathiveri is a small and quiet island and is located on the North of the Ari Atoll. It lies 85 km far from the Male International Airport. The journey to the island takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes by a speedboat. The population of the Mathiveri island is roughly 1.000 inhabitants.
In the island, there is a medical centre which provides basic medical care. There is a school for local children, but it’s only up to 10th grade and for the next grades the children visit a school in Male. You can find 3 mosques, police station, and court located opposite the port there. There is also a diving centre, 4 restaurants and several cafés. The speciality of the island is a stingray beach where you can see many stingrays having a rest, and also some small sharks. Right next to the tourist bikini beach is a private sandbank (Mathiveri Finolhu) to which you get by swimming or walking – it depends on the water level. It’s the only sandbank you can visit for free whereas in the other islands you will pay for the entrance a lot of money.

On the Mathiveri island we offer a stay in a small family hotel with 6 airconditioned rooms. It takes only few steps to get to a wonderful beach. Rooms have a private bathroom, comfortable queen-size beds, a seating area and amazing garden views. Towels, beach towels, mini bar, flat-screen TV and Wi-fi are provided for guests in the rooms. The hotel has its own restaurant which serves Asian food in buffet style or by choice from the menu according to the number of visitors in a hotel.

A children’s playground is available on the island.
Just a few tens of meters from the island is a private sandbank (Mathiveri Finolhu). You can swim or walk to it depending on the water level. But be careful, there is a strong current between the island and the sandbank!!! We can provide you with a boat that will take you there safely.
